The Synaesthesia Project

Bringing together music, vinyl, light and event, The Synaesthesia Project immerses the viewer in the full drench of music, colour, light, movement and sound. A self-initiated project between Intercity and contemporary artist Graham-Guy Robinson, the project uses a turntable, UV paint and a heat gun, to create one-of-a-kind vinyl sculptures.

Music captured and experienced as vinyl has made a revival. Music as a tangible object, with a weight and feel, a sight and sound, offers an alternative experience to purely digital sound. Vinyl offers the listener a physical experience and interaction with music through the culmination of machine, material objects and graphic art. Music and light are hardwired together – from the heartbeat hum of tribal fires, to the emergence of the discotheque, the neon glow of rave culture and the sunrise over Ibiza.
