KARST
Independent Art Space
KARST is an independent contemporary gallery and artists studios in the South West, recognised internationally for dynamic creative programming. Situated in Plymouth’s Millbay, their ambition is for everyone to have the opportunity to engage with, participate in, and experience contemporary art. KARST create space for taking risks and opportunities for artists and curators to provoke, disrupt and innovate.
In 2024, Intercity completed a comprehensive update of KARST’s visual identity. The process began with the consolidation and expansion of a few core design elements – including the redrawing of the primary logo, the creation of a new typographic approach, and a revised colour palette referencing architectural features within the building. A key element to the updated identity is the new grid system – a layout framework based on the 42 columns within KARST’s physical gallery space.
